About Walker Moyle
Walker Moyle are a friendly, progressive firm of accountants with three offices across the West of Cornwall. We place our clients at the heart of everything we do, aiming to exceed client expectations wherever possible with a timely, professional and personal service. In order to do this, we invest in the continuous development of our staff. We pay for all your training and ongoing CPD costs, so that you have the necessary skills and experience to carry out your role effectively, whilst giving you the opportunity to develop your career. We offer lots of varied and interesting work from a variety of business types and sectors including owner managed businesses, charities and academies. We are now looking to recruit two Trainee Accountants as part of the firm’s development plan.

From day one you will be busy learning new skills and assisting with: bookkeeping activities; helping to prepare accounts; processing payroll; helping on audits; and preparing tax calculations. We give you lots of different work experience to help you decide what area you may want to specialise in, later in your career.
After passing your six month probationary period, we will register you for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England Wales (ICAEW) Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business qualification. Upon successful completion of this, we will offer you a three year training contract to support you during your professional exams to become a qualified Chartered Accountant.
We pay for all your training courses and exams and give you time off from work for study leave, we expect you to set aside your own time for private study as well. Our commitment to you extends long after you pass your exams as we continue to pay for you to attend training courses to help maintain and develop your skills and expertise.
Alongside your training you will receive lots of supervision and support from your line manager and fellow team workers. You will need to work as part of the team and will be expected to take on more responsibility as your skills and experience develop.
We can offer you a very varied role with a wide range of experience whilst you learn, pass your qualifications and develop your career.
Salary and benefits:
- Competitive salary
- Subject to your eligibility, you may be entered in the company’s pension scheme
- 20 days holiday per year, plus bank holidays, plus 3 days shut down between Christmas and New Year
- Permanent, full time – 37.5 hours a week
- Penzance or Redruth offices
Ideally you should have:
- 3 A-Levels, or equivalent qualification, at Grade B or above
- 9 GCSEs, or equivalent qualification, at Grades A – C, including a minimum of Grade B for Maths and English
- Experience of Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and Outlook
The above qualifications are provided as a guide only. If you don’t meet this criteria, but are keen to develop a career in accountancy and you have the ambition and dedication to work hard and study for your exams, we’d still like to hear from you.
